She states, “While medication and physical therapy are crucial components of treatment, a well-balanced diet plays an essential role in alleviating symptoms and enhancing a child’s overall well-being.”

1. Anti-Inflammatory Foods: Inflammation is a hallmark symptom of arthritis, often causing significant pain in young patients. Introducing specific foods into their diet can help manage pain and reduce inflammation’s impact. Omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods like flaxseeds, chia seeds, spinach, and soy products can be beneficial. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are also rich in antioxidants, which aid in inflammation control. Berries, nuts, and olive oil provide additional flavor and anti-inflammatory properties. Parents should minimize the consumption of processed and sugary foods, as they can exacerbate inflammation.

2. Nutrient-Rich Foods: Beyond addressing arthritis symptoms, children need a balanced diet rich in nutrients. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy products are essential. Vitamins and minerals such as calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium form the foundation for bone health and joint support.
